Clean Air Makes Sense
While global trends toward electrification will continue, clean combustion will remain a vital component of transportation, energy, and industry for the foreseeable future. The key is ensuring near-zero emissions from next-generation engines, regardless of fuel type (gasoline, diesel, biofuels, natural gas, e-fuels, etc.) or design (hybrid, GDI, etc.). Emisense develops and supports patent portfolios for Electrostatic PM/PN sensors (ePM) and cloud-connected emissions telemetry systems (EmTrac®).
Reimagining Combustion: Cleaner, Smarter, Stronger
Emisense was formed with the mission of advancing clean air by developing sensors for direct measurement of criteria pollutants, especially low-cost and durable sensors for ultrafine particulate matter (Particulate Mass, PM, or Particulate Number, PN).
Emisense successfully demonstrated the potential of electrostatic PM sensing (ePM), and in 2014 successfully licensed the ePM/PMTrac® technology portfolio to Continental Automotive, based in Regensburg, Germany.
Due to adoption delays related to the global diesel emissions scandal and regulatory enforcement, Continental ceased development of the ePM sensor in 2018. Since then, Emisense has advanced the combined portfolio of IP and innovations.
With a renewed focus on clean air, a variety of next-generation sensing requirements are emerging, including on-board diagnostics (OBD) and monitoring (OBM) for hybrids, clean diesel, and GDI; LEV-III, China-7, Euro-7, Tier-1 Off-road; and other pending dynamics and regulations. We look forward to helping you with your application.
